Physical structure
The Subterranean Invertebrate Collection of Lavras (ISLA), located in the Center for Studies on Subterranean Biology, Federal University of Lavras (MG), features thousands of specimens collected in different regions of the country during the execution of dozens of research projects. The collection also receives specimens from biospeleological diagnosis work, coming from collections made by private company professionals. These deposits have been considerably increasing the library's collection, which is consulted by both researchers and consultants. The collection currently has specimens preferentially stored wet. In addition, a collection is being organized that aims toward future molecular studies, in which the specimens are stored in absolute alcohol.
